Lucy Williams, a distinguished contralto hailing from Wales, has recently graced the stage as Berta in Il Barbiere di Siviglia with Opera Classica Europa. In the upcoming 2024/25 opera season, Lucy will take on the role of the contralto Cretan Woman in Idomeneo at Oper Stuttgart, guided by the esteemed conductor Cornelius Meister. Additionally, she is preparing for a performance of Rutter’s Feel the Spirit under the expert direction of Enrico Trummer.

Her musical journey commenced with Covent Garden bass Geoff Squires, leading her to pursue a BA Joint Honours in Music and Music Technology at Keele University. After relocating to Manchester, she joined the Leeds Youth Opera, where she portrayed Ilia in Idomeneo.

In 2009, Lucy began her studies with her current mentor, Tobias Meisberger, and further honed her vocal skills at the University of Augsburg’s Leopold Mozart Zentrum in 2010, studying under Prof. Gabriele Fuchs and Prof. Dominik Wortig, as well as delving into Lieder with Rudi Spring and Kilian Sprau. While in Augsburg, she participated in masterclasses with luminaries such as Frieder Bernius, Michael Nagy, Prof. Karl-Peter Kammerlander, and Prof. Rudolf Piernay.

In 2012, Lucy made her mark at Theater Augsburg, alternating between the roles of Sorceress and Second Witch in Meeting Dido (Dido and Aeneas). The following year, she brought to life the characters of Maman/Libellule in the university's production of L’enfant et les Sortilèges and showcased her talent across various venues, including the Tambosi Opera Café in Munich and alongside the Baroque Orchestra ‘La Banda’. Concurrently, she became an active soloist in church music.

Since 2014, Lucy has been a cherished member of the Stuttgart State Opera. She also shines as a soloist in church and oratorio concerts. Her roles at Stuttgart Opera include the Orange Seller in Carmen, 4th Guest in Death in Venice, and 4th Knabe in Lohengrin. Since 2018, she has frequently embodied the role of 3rd Dame in Die Zauberflöte, and in the 2021/22 season, she portrayed Flora in La Traviata with Opera Classica Europa. With a remarkable versatility, she has also performed scenes as Schwertleite in Die Walküre and Frau Mary in Der Fliegende Holländer at the Margravial Opera House in Bayreuth.
